Beach Repairs / Closures

Wabasso Beach park will be closing for a short period of time for beach access and dune repairs. Please see the closure schedule below for details:

  • Wabasso Beach Closed - Wednesday, October 2nd and Thursday October 3rd and will reopen Friday October 4th.

Statement of Function
The function of the Parks Division is to maintain existing County park grounds, buildings, and equipment in a clean, safe, and well maintained condition. The Parks Division also constructs new facilities as approved by the BOCC when funding permits. The Parks Division also maintains land purchased through the Environmental Land Acquisition program.

2018/2019 Goals and Objectives

• Maintain high level of service for patrons in all Parks
• Continue to maintain natural and environmental areas for public use
• Increase revenue at Fairgrounds and Campground
• Install stabilizer / millings for roadways in all Parks
• New pavilion, restroom facility and resurface and fence basketball court for Hosie Schuman Park
• Restroom/Concession stand at NCy Park (Joint venture w/North County Soccer Association)
• Repair pole barn and build additional pole barn at old shop
• Upgrade lighting in building at the Fairgrounds
• Move sheds from 16th St ballfield complex upon sale of property
• Redo infield at West Wabasso ballfield
• New restroom / concession stand for Gifford Park
• Seal coat Expo building and Expo pavilion at Fairgrounds
• Upgrade electric in Expo
• Paint exterior and columns in buildings at Fairgrounds
• Clear areas at Fairgrounds for additional parking for events
• Upgrade aging vehicle fleet and replace old mowers
