Located
on Florida's Treasure Coast in Indian River County is the
newest public shooting range. It has been created through
the cooperative efforts of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Florida
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Board of
County Commissioners of Indian River County.
Approximately
5 miles west of Sebastian and just east of Exit 156 on I-95,
the public shooting range has a separate pistol range with
35 firing stations. It also has a separate rifle range with
29 firing stations. The ranges provide 25, 50 and 100 yard
range targets and two 200 yard target firing stations. Both
ranges are lighted for night-time use.
For the
shotgun enthusiasts, the range sports a 5-stand range and
a sporting clay course. If firearms aren't your cup of tea,
the shooting range has an air rifle and pellet gun target
facility. And, for the bow and arrow enthusiastists, Indian
River County Public Shooting Range has an archery range. If
members of your family or party would prefer to undertake
other activities, the shooting range has a lake that has been
stocked for those who would enjoy taking a child fishing.
That's your ticket to fishing; without a child, you may not
fish! So, enjoy the memories of your childhood and take a
