Statement of Function
The Emergency Management Division's function is to develop, coordinate and promote comprehensive emergency plans for pre- and post disaster events in Indian River County. Its responsibilities include ensuring that the County meets all local government requirements under the State Emergency management Act. This division is responsible for county compliance with Florida Statute 252 and all associated rules. Adequate public preparedness, warning, education and training are the highest priority for the Emergency Management.

POST DISASTER REDEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: A post-disaster redevelopment plan (PDRP) identifies how a community will redevelop and recover over a long-term period after a disaster. Using grant funds from the Department of Homeland Security, St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River Counties have contracted with the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council (TCRPC) to embark on the development of a post disaster redevelopment plan. DISASTER LOANS AVAILABLE: The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced that working capital loans are available to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of the drought conditions experienced in our county.
