| The
Road and Bridge Division is responsible to insure the safety
and efficiency of the County's road network through a regularly
scheduled program of maintenance, grading and paving. This program
is to cover bridges, roadbeds, curbs, culverts, drains, rear
lot drainage, sidewalk, mowing, sweeping, guardrail, bikeways,
and resurfacing within portions of unincorporated areas of Indian
River County. The Division consists of a Superintendent and
an Assistant Superintendent who are in charge of conducting
all daily operations within the office and in the field. There
are five (5) Managers who manage the daily routes and maintenance,
special projects, bridge repair, sidewalks, and culvert installation.
The Office Staff consists of three (3) Staff Assistants who
handle all incoming calls, radio transmission, and daily office
operations. Office hours are between the hours of 7 AM and 3:30
PM, Monday through Friday. For emergency response, please contact

For a
perspective on the effort involved in maintaining our valuable
infrastructure, remember that with an annual budget of $6
million the Road and Bridge Division maintains:
- More
than 352 miles of paved roads and ditches.
- Grades
more than 245 miles of dirt roads and ditches.
- Maintain
more than 163 miles of back lot and side lot drainage easements.
- Sweep
more than 132 miles of roads with curb and gutter
- Mow
366 miles of right-of-way in areas where the county is responsible
for the condition of the roads.
- Maintain
