Indian River County Emergency Management is requesting the participation of members of the public as well as community and business leaders to help implement the county's Local Mitigation Strategy. All of our LMS meetings are opened to the public for either full-time membership or casual participation. Please check back in this location for an upcoming meeting schedule.
LMS Update
Indian River County has completed the update of its 2010 Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS), a plan identifying projects and activities aimed at reducing the impacts of natural disasters such as hurricane, tornadoes, and flooding.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has reviewed and approved the plan update for compliance with the federal hazard mitigation planning standards and determined that the plan is compliant with all federal standards. The Indian River County Board of County Commissioners, on July 13, 2010, adopted the plan by Resolution No. 2010-059. Formal adoption of the plan by each municipality must also occur within one calendar year.
Adoption of the Local Mitigation Strategy is an eligibility requirement for various hazard mitigation grant programs. Our LMS meetings are open to the public and we encourage everyone interested to attend and participate in our process. Our efforts are for the benefit of our citizens; we want you, our community residents and visitors, to help provide us the direction that provides you the most benefit from our activities.
Regular meetings will be held at the Indian River County Emergency Operations Center. Please check this website for the meeting schedule.
Please contact (772) 226-3852 or with any comments, changes, or feedback you may have.
