Statement of Function
The Public Works Department is the management center for the planning and implementation of engineering design, construction, and maintenance programs within the Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Capital Projects, Parks Maintenance, Stormwater Engineering, Fleet Management, Stormwater and Road and Bridge Divisions. The function of the Public Works Department is to provide a complete infrastructure for transportation, parks, beaches, and stormwater systems within Indian River County, as well as meeting the fleet management needs of all county departments.
2008/2009 Goals and Objectives
- Design, permit & construct Rockridge Surge Protection Project
- Implement Road Improvement Program
- Reconstruct Wabasso Beach Park
- Resurface Old Dixie Highway 9th Street SW to 16th Street
- Construct 53rd Street from 58th Avenue to US1
- Complete CR512 – Phase 4 from I-95 to Sebastian Middle School
