One-Cent Sales Tax Renewal
Voters in the 2016 general election voted 64.35% in favor to renew the One-Cent Sales Tax, which is set to expire on December 31, 2019. This will extend the tax for an additional 15 years, providing funding for important projects from lagoon restoration and clean-up, emergency services vehicle replacement, parks and recreation facilities, to road improvements. Zika Virus - March 2016
Zika fever is a mild febrile illness caused by a mosquito-borne virus similar to those that cause dengue and West Nile virus infection. There are a number of travel-related cases confirmed in Florida counties but none in Indian River County. Protect Yourself & Your Neighbors. Employee Health Insurance Financial Update - February 2016
Indian River County operates a self-insured health insurance program for employees and retirees of the Board of County Commissioners as well as the five (5) Constitutional Officers. County staff, with assistance from their broker (The Gehring Group), regularly monitors our claims experience and evaluates options to reduce and control costs going forward and on February 9th they presented the BCC with a financial update and summary of cost savings options.
Energy Forum - October 2015
On October 30th, Commissioner Tim Zorc hosted an Energy Forum with presentations by a group of industry experts discussing how to reduce utility and energy costs for business and government. The forum was open to the public and recorded.

Recycling/Garbage Collection Transition - October 2015
As of October 1, 2015, all residents of Indian River County have a convenient and user‐friendly way to recycle with Single Stream Recycling. Also, Unincorporated County residents who subscribe for garbage collection now use a 96‐gallon cart for once-a-week garbage collection and see a 35% rate reduction.

Alternative Water Supply Plan - February 2015
On April 22, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners authorized CDM Smith to perform a feasibility analysis for the siting of a surface water reservoir to meet future, long-term potable water demand.
