This property is managed in conjunction with the St. Sebastian River State Park (SSRSP) by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The property contains a mixture of xeric oak scrub, scrubby flatwoods, pine flatwoods, palmetto prairie, and forested and herbaceous wetlands. There are several protected species that have been documented on-site, including the red-cockaded woodpecker, Florida scrub-jay, Florida gopher tortoise, Southern bald eagle, and numerous wading bird species. The mixture of communities on the site also provides habitat for several protected plant species.
The Park provides many recreational opportunities to the public including horseback riding, hiking, bicycling, canoeing, boating, fishing, wildlife observation, and primitive camping. There are two entrances to the SSRSP – the visitor center is located off Babcock Road just north of the C-54 Canal, and the south entrance is located 1.8 miles west of I-95 on CR 512.
