The function of the Parks and Conservation Resources Division is to beautify and maintain County Parks and Conservation areas. The Parks and Conservation Resources Division enhances and maintains parks, conservation lands, buildings and equipment in order to provide quality recreation, leisure and conservation areas for our residents and visitors.
2020/2021 Goals and Objectives
Award the Contract for the Request for Proposals and complete construction of the 58th AvenueBaseball Field Complex Project.
Implement the CivicRec Facility Reservation System in order to allow our residents and visitors tofind, reserve and pay for pavilion, facility, and campground reservations.
Complete schedule of improvements to Hosie Schuman Park in accordance with the GiffordNeighborhood Plan.
Continue to provide and enhance resident-focused parks and recreation services within our currentlevel of resources.
Leverage budgeted funds by applying for grant opportunities to enhance various parks amenityimprovements projects.
Further increase the Donald McDonald Campground utilization and revenue levels by acceptingreservations and implementing a "Host Camper" Program
Replace the playground at Dale Wimbrow Park and install a playground at Hosie Schuman Parkand Kiwanis Hobart Park.
Continue to collaborate with non-profit entities such as Keep Indian River Beautiful to completebeautification project at county parks.
Replace 18 roofs on picnic pavilions and restrooms throughout our system as part of our plan toreduce deferred maintenance.
Conduct periodic and relevant training and informative staff education sessions in collaborationwith the Indian River County, UF/IFAS staff.
