Tracking Station Beach Park - Indian River County Parks and Recreation will be improving and resurfacing the parking lots of Tracking Station Beach Park (800 46th Place, Vero Beach, FL) from Monday morning June 7, 2021 until Friday morning June 11, 2021. During this period pedestrian access will be permitted through the connector from SR A1A and our Ocean Rescue Lifeguards will be staffing the beach from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Access to the parking lot will be closed during this period until Friday morning June 11,2021.
Dale Wimbrow Park - Indian River County Parks and Recreation will be improving and resurfacing the boat ramp loop and entrance to Dale Wimbrow Park (11805 Roseland Road, Sebastian, FL ) from Wednesday June 9, 2021 until Saturday June 12, 2021. During this period boaters who want to launch in this area on the Sebastian River can launch from the boat ramp at the Donald MacDonald Campground (1/3rd of a mile NE on Roseland Road from Dale Wimbrow Park). Dale Wimbrow Park and Boat Ramp will reopen Saturday morning June 12, 2021.
Statement of Function
The function of the Parks and Conservation Resources Division is to beautify and maintain County Parks and Conservation areas. The Parks and Conservation Resources Division enhances and maintains parks, conservation lands, buildings and equipment in order to provide quality recreation, leisure and conservation areas for our residents and visitors.
2020/2021 Goals and Objectives
Award the Contract for the Request for Proposals and complete construction of the 58th AvenueBaseball Field Complex Project.
Implement the CivicRec Facility Reservation System in order to allow our residents and visitors tofind, reserve and pay for pavilion, facility, and campground reservations.
Complete schedule of improvements to Hosie Schuman Park in accordance with the GiffordNeighborhood Plan.
Continue to provide and enhance resident-focused parks and recreation services within our currentlevel of resources.
Leverage budgeted funds by applying for grant opportunities to enhance various parks amenityimprovements projects.
Further increase the Donald McDonald Campground utilization and revenue levels by acceptingreservations and implementing a "Host Camper" Program
Replace the playground at Dale Wimbrow Park and install a playground at Hosie Schuman Parkand Kiwanis Hobart Park.
Continue to collaborate with non-profit entities such as Keep Indian River Beautiful to completebeautification project at county parks.
Replace 18 roofs on picnic pavilions and restrooms throughout our system as part of our plan toreduce deferred maintenance.
Conduct periodic and relevant training and informative staff education sessions in collaborationwith the Indian River County, UF/IFAS staff.
